As of this year, James Bond is in the public domain in Canada. Canadians can now freely make copies of the Bond novels, make their own film versions of them, and write stories featuring James Bond in his role as a member of the British Secret Service. But we have to wait another 20 years before Bond hits the public domain in the US.
