EU proposes $6.2-billion tax on Facebook, Google and other tech giants

European policymakers are suggesting a new tax on tech giants such as Facebook and Google. It would tap into revenues in countries where the firms have the bulk of their users and customers, imposing a 3% tax on income from online advertising, the sale of user data and the connecting of users.
